What’s Included in a Service

A proper unvented cylinder service covers all the critical safety components:

Temperature and pressure relief valve – This is your cylinder’s main safety device. I’ll test it to ensure it opens at the correct pressure and temperature, and check for any signs of limescale or corrosion.

Expansion vessel – Unvented systems include an expansion vessel to handle thermal expansion. I’ll check the pre-charge pressure and inspect for any signs of failure.

Pressure reducing valve – This controls the incoming water pressure. I’ll test it’s working correctly and check for any debris buildup.

Tundish and discharge pipework – I’ll check these are clear and correctly installed to safely discharge any water if a safety valve operates.

Anode rod (if fitted) – Some cylinders have a sacrificial anode to prevent corrosion. I’ll check its condition and recommend replacement if needed.

General inspection – I’ll look for any signs of leaks, corrosion, or damage to the cylinder and pipework.
